Heritage charm, modern performance

  • Respectful Restoration: This project required a careful balance between preserving the charm of a period home and upgrading it to meet today’s energy efficiency standards. With much of the original structure in disrepair, the team worked closely with suppliers to source materials that authentically matched the home’s original aesthetic.
  • Energy Efficiency Within Budget: Internally, the focus was on performance and practicality. High-performance PVC windows, insulation, and a building membrane were selected to meet strict energy goals—all within a tight budget—while improving natural light and ventilation throughout the home.
  • Overcoming Structural Challenges: From poor sub-floor conditions to the removal of structural chimneys, the team navigated complex restoration challenges with precise execution and careful planning to protect the home’s integrity.
  • Tight Access, Big Results: Limited access to the rear of the site added a layer of complexity, particularly during the extension phase. Despite this, the team maintained quality and efficiency through collaborative planning and strong communication with trades and suppliers.
  • Safety-First Approach: With a zero-incident record, safety remained at the forefront. Barwick Developments’ robust safety systems, regular site meetings, and consistent team engagement ensured a safe and productive environment from start to finish.

This project is a testament to what’s possible when heritage charm meets modern performance—an elegant transformation delivered through collaboration, thoughtful planning, and an uncompromising focus on quality.
