“The team at Barwick Developments recently completed a renovation and extension for
our dilapidated 1929 weatherboard house that we were fast falling out of love with. From
the start the Barwick team made the process so easy. It was refreshing to work with a
business who were genuinely interested and passionate about using more sustainable and
efficient materials and practices to make a healthier home. We’d originally been working
with the team on a knock down rebuild, however, with great heartbreak, it became
evident the project was not going to be feasible. The Barwick team supported us as we
pivoted to explore a renovation and extension option, breathing new life into our old
house. During our two-year journey with the Barwick team we worked together to finesse
the design, creating a sensitive extension and renovation that respected the property’s
heritage whilst brining it into the 21st century with all the mod-cons and energy efficiency
to boot!
Throughout our build, despite working on a reno where nothing was ever straightforward,
the team made the challenging conversations comfortable and realistic, working with us
to create fantastic outcomes while being mindful of our budget.
The Barwick team were phenomenal to work with. They were supportive and
understanding throughout project, both in the design and approvals phase, through to the
build, and into the post build phase as we’ve worked on the civil landscaping. The quality
of the workmanship is outstanding, and it has been a pleasure to watch the Barwick team
find joy and creativity in navigating the challenges of an old house whilst celebrating their
skillsets as they crafted beautiful features that married the old and new.
Our house was not without its challenges, and we were certainly relieved to have the
Barwick team in our corner when more than a few curve balls came our way. They have a
knack for problem solving, making it look easy as they take you on the journey to keep
you informed and consulted with along the way.
In short, the Barwick team’s engagement and people skills, coupled with their craftsman’s
skills made our project enjoyable and one we would gladly do with them again. They
stripped back our home to the bones and rebuilt it from the ground up, improving every
aspect of the house from the structure and insulation to the roofing with a skylight over
the shower, to bedrooms, bathrooms and living rooms, all updated and crafted to
outstanding quality. We have fallen back in love with our house and now can’t imagine
living anywhere else. We have the Barwick team to thank for that.”

“After 15 years of experience utilizing Matt Barwick and his team for all my building
requirements, I am very pleased to be able to provide a reference.
I have always been impressed by, in fact, in awe of, his exceptional design and building
skills.
I met Matt in about 2010 as a freshly minted builder. He backed his trailer into my
driveway in West Launceston and together with apprentice Todd set about working on a
property that required renovations on two levels to multiple rooms as well as the building
of a two-level deck with spa and accessories on the lower level. Of course it was all done
to a very high standard, exceeding expectations.
Next job involved additions to a specialist medical practice in South Launceston. The
product - an inviting and comfortable environment for patients and staff.
Next job Blackstone Heights - refurbishment of a very large double story home on the
shores of Lake Trevallyn. The result, an amazing transformation of several rooms and a
bathroom together with skilful salvage of an outdoors gazebo that had suffered due to
ground movement.
However, for me, the pinnacle of Matt and his teams work came when he completed a
masterful and hugely satisfying renovation of a small cottage in Newstead- in its place
arising - like a phoenix – an innovative, attractive, inviting and exciting contemporary
dwelling that I am so very pleased and grateful to be able to call home.
Matt is all about attention to detail, excellence in execution and delivering buildings that
‘stand out from the crowd’. If you want the ordinary, if you want just another house and
land package, if you’re not inspired by a builder who can pull a team together to deliver
something extraordinary then don’t go to Matt.
If you want excellence and care from your builder. If you want to be involved and feel able
to discuss sometimes difficult changes in design direction, or a desire for cost control. If
you want a team of builders and tradespeople who are clever artisans and can deliver
